Ways to Give Locally This Holiday Season

Tis the season of giving, and there are lots of ways to put your generosity to work in the DFW area this season. Here are some of our favorite local ways to give this year:

Salvation Army Angel Tree - Ways to Give Back in Dallas - Holiday giving Dallas

Probably the most familiar to all is Toys For Tots, but not everyone knows how it works. Toys For Tots is a national organization that facilitates local businesses and individuals to collect toys and organizes their delivery to local kids in need. You can donate to an existing Toys For Tots event or donation drop-off or start your own. Click the link to find out how you can participate with Dallas-Fort Worth Toys For Tots.

This incredible organization provides both emergency and ongoing assistance and resources for victims of domestic abuse. During the holidays, there are several ways you can support their crucial mission. Genesis collects both holiday donations like toys and gifts and donation of essentials like clothing, bedding, toiletries and more. You can help by being a donation drop off point, by adopting a family, by collecting essentials for families starting over, or by purchasing holiday cards. Check out their website for details!

SoupMobile is an awesome local organization that serves Dallas' homeless population in several ways. Their mobile units bring more than 250,000 meals to homeless people each year by going where they are, rather than making them come to a stationary soup kitchen. SoupMobile Shelter provides options for emergency shelter to those in need of immediate solutions. During the holidays in addition to these everyday services, they host about 500 homeless at the Dallas Omni Hotel for a beautiful holiday experience. Find out how to volunteer on their website.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree is a longstanding tradition that allows individuals to make a difference for families in need over the holidays. Families with children provides names and wish lists for children which are then made into tags and placed on Angel Trees throughout the metroplex. Donors can select tags, purchase the gifts and return them to the tree. To find an Angel Tree near you, chek out their website.
